Photographers take real life moments and capture it so it can be viewed and treasured forever. They usually have small offices, and maybe darkrooms if they develop their own film, they will most likely have some connection to the internet too, so they can get clients and have their portfolios online. In 2008 only 152,000 photographers were employed in America. People hiring photographers usually look for someone with a good eye, and at least a college degree in a photography course. It is important to have at least some type of training in the field before you actually get hired so most photographers start out as assistants to gain more experience. Photographers need good eye sight, hand  eye coordination, and people skills so they can deal with the large array of people as well as the companys and firms they might work with.  Most photographers now days also need to know how to use different computer software’s to edit and enhance their already taken photos. Photography is expected to rise in competition as the job appeals to many different types of people. The average salary for a photographer in 2008 was around $29,440, most salary photographers work full time to get there though. If you’ve got these talents but don’t specifically want to be a photographer you might want to try one of the following occupations:

Architects
Artists
Commercial and industrial designers
Fashion designers
Graphic designers
Television, video, and motion picture camera
operators and editors
